This Chicken Braided Bread was on my to do list for quite sometime. Finally I made it yesterday for our Iftar. I can’t resist myself to share the recipe on my website. We need some patience and time for making this. I am sure the final result is really worthy. This is really tasty and variety snack for your Iftar.
Instead of chicken you can make this braided bread with any type of filling as per your wish. Do try this Chicken Braided Bread at your home and let me know how it turns it to you.
Take a large bowl, add dry ingredients flour, salt, sugar, yeast and milk powder and whisk them.
Preserve a little from one egg for egg washing for baking. Add remaining egg and oil to it.
Knead to a medium soft dough by adding lukewarm water. Cover and leave it until it becomes double in size.
Meanwhile we can prepare the filling for the bread. Heat butter in a hot pan.
Add chopped onion and cook till it becomes soft.
Add flour to it mix well.
Then add pepper powder, garam masala and salt as required, mix everything well.
Pour milk to it and cook till it becomes thick.
Now add cooked and shredded chicken(Chicken is cooked with salt and pepper), chopped coriander leaves, green chillies and grated cheese, mix well and switch off the flame. Filling is Ready.
Now take raised dough, punch down and knead for 2 to 3 minutes. Now roll it into oval or rectangle shape.
Brush it with little melted butter or oil.
Place the chickenfilling in middle as shown in the picture.
Make cuts on sides with the help of a knife or a pizza cutter as shown in the picture.
Now take topmost strips and wrap them across each other and keep on repeating till you reach the end. Leave the bottom part as it is. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle some white sesame seeds.
Preheat the oven in 200 degrees Celsius and bake in 200 degrees Celsius for 20-30 minutes.
Apply butter right after taking it out from oven for extra softness. Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
