Kallai Chicken Roast

 

Ingredients

  • Chicken Pieces – 500 grm
  • Small onion (chopped) – 1 cup
  • Tomato (cubed) – 1 medium
  • Ginger – 1 piece
  • Garlic – 6-8 cloves
  • green chilly – 2
  • Cashew nut and kismis
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4 tspn
  • Chilly powder – 1/2 tspn
  • Crushed pepper – 1 tspn
  • Fennel powder – 1/2 tspn
  • Salt to taste
  • Coconut milk – 1/2 cup
  • Tomato puree – 1/2 cup
  • Curry leaves – few
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tspn
  • Grated coconut – 3 tbspn
  • Oil

Directions

  1. Heat oil in kadai, Splutter mustard seeds. Add nicely chopped ginger, garlic and saute well.
  2. Add curry leaves and green chillies.Then add chopped shallots and saute well.
  3. Add turmeric powder, chilly powder, fennel powder, pepper, required salt and tomato puree and mix everything well.
  4. Add cleaned chicken pieces to it, mix well, Pour coconut milk to it and cook chicken in it.
  5. In the meantime heat oil or ghee in another pan, add kismis, cashew nut and grated coconut one by one and roast well.
  6. Add cubed tomatoes to the chicken and mix well. Once the chicken is cooked well, add roasted coconut cashew mix to it and give a stir.
  7. Serve hot with rice, Ghee rice, Appam, Chappathi etc.
