We have seen many snacks made with thari/rava/semolina. This is a recipe I have borrowed from my mother. I have a lot of memories of her flavourful snacks. Thari unda/Thari Nulliyittathu is one of a common snack she made for our evenings when I was a kid. I had thari unda recently and remembered to add the tasty recipe to my yummy notes diary. It is a two-step easy recipe but the outcome is yummy. Thari/rava/semolina and maida is mixed with sugar, egg and cardamom powder mixture to make a semi thick batter and the spoon sized balls are deep fried to make a form of fried balls. It is better to try at home and taste yourself. You can store this snack for a long time.but it is better to have when it is hot and crispy. Anyways try it and let me know the valuable responses.
- Semolina/ Rava/ Sooji – 1 cup
- Maida – 1/2 cup
- Egg – 2
- Sugar – 3 to 5 tbspn
- Cardamom powder – 1 tsp
- Oil for deep fry
- Blend egg,sugar and cardamom powder very well.
- In a bowl mix maida and rava, pour egg mixture to it and make a dough.
- Take small bits of dough using hand or spoon and deep fry in hot oil until it turns golden brown colour.
